The Tarr Steps is an ancient clapper bridge across the River Barle in the Exmoor.

WATERS MEET



Watersmeet is the meeting place of the East Lyn River and Hoar Oak Water, it is surrounded by the rich woodlands of the Lyn Valley.

Beaches & Coastal



SAUNTON SANDS



Saunton Sands Beach is an idyllic 3-mile stretch of stunning golden sand, backed by the UNESCO-protected Braunton Burrows Biosphere Reserve.
Saunton boasts some of the country’s best surf which attracts surfers all year round and is well known for its long, slow waves.


Valley of Rocks



This fascinating valley is a U-shaped dry valley that is parallel to the sea. It lies about ½ mile to the west of Lynton. It is well known for its feral goats that roam freely and often quite hair-raisingly on the jagged cliff edges. Mother Meldrum’s Cafe provides a range of refreshments. There are public toilets and a picnic area.

Morte Point



Once notorious for smugglers and wreckers, this stretch of coastline is a great place to enjoy the dramatic scenery of rocky headlands, secluded coves and sandy bays. As you walk from Morte Point towards the lighthouse at Bull Point, look out for seals and take in the coastal heathland and maritime grasslands, which are great habitats for birds and other wildlife.

APPLEDORE



A historic fishing village with winding narrow streets and colourful houses, full of maritime history and cute pastel houses. Characterised by its winding narrow streets and the colourful houses, it sits at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers with views across to Instow. Explore by taking the seasonal ferry over to the neighbouring Instow for a day trip.

CLOVELLY



A beautiful, picturesque fishing village, steeped in maritime atmosphere and history. It was once owned by the Queen of England!
Originally the estate was owned by William the Conqueror, King of England, gifted to his wife and then had many royal associations until 1242 when first acquired by the Giffard family. A lovely place to enjoy a day out.
